We have been busy getting ready for Christmas. Have a look at all the wonderful art we have created. 

Santa Claus is coming to town!!!

We had a very special visitor to Merlin Woods on Friday. Santa Claus and his elf Jingle Bell surprised us with a visit!! We had an amazing time listening to Santa Claus read a story and sing songs with him and Jingle Bell. We were all delighted to find out we are ALL on his good list! Santa and Jingle Bell even brought us treats! Merry Christmas everyone!!! 

Liam Mc Carthy comes to Merlin Woods!!!

We were very excited to have the Liam Mc Carthy visit Merlin Woods P.S. Castlegar Gaa brought 11 cups in total to show us all that Galway and Castlegar Gaa have won this year!! What a wonderful year it has been!! Gaillimh Abú!!! 

Walk for Water!

Our whole school had a walk for water. We wanted to raise awareness about water scarcity in our area.We believe safe drinking water and basic sanitation should be accessible to everyone. 

Microbes

During Galway Science and Technology week, we had visitors in to our classroom to speak to us about 'microbes'. Dr Eoin McGillicuddy from NUI Galway, Microbiologist Ann and Nurse Niamh from UCHG. We learnt about microorganism, the different types and how microorganism can affect our health. We learnt that there are good and bad types of microorganism. Finally, we learnt about the importance of hand washing. Nurse Niamh showed us the importance of washing our hands properly. She used UVA lights to show us if we had cleaned our hands correctly. We really enjoyed the workshop!

K'nex

During Galway Science and Technology week, we had Noelle visit us to show us all the wonderful things you can make from K'nex. We made flowers, trucks and motorised cars which we even got to race. We had a great day! 

Happy Halloween
